When my first daughter was in preschool, she would ask me many detailed questions about our immune system. Being an immunologist, I indulged her with lots of detail, and began drawing out explanations. There was no end to her curiosity and thirst for more information, so I decided to write and illustrate a children's immunology book! I launched it as a Kickstarter as an attempt to share my book more widely with the community, and it was successfully funded. I designed and illustrated accompanying immune cell playing cards, and after the Kickstarter, I set up my Etsy shop! It has been a lot of fun coming up with new and creative ways to spread science education and awareness with innovative products, and my daughters thoroughly enjoy helping me brainstorm and build excitement! :)
